Eating for Optimal
Health
Grains,
Grains, Go Away!
We
are a society
that overconsumes
grains, particularly,
refined, and
processed ones.
These “foods” simply
add empty calories
to our diet
due to their
lack of fiber
and nutrients.
Grains contain
nutrient inhibitors
called phytates
which bind to
minerals, making
them hard to
digest and absorb.
High grain intake
can lead to
an overproduction
of insulin which
leads to blood
sugar disorders.
Grains are also
highly allergenic
and mucus forming.
In
his controversial
book, “Dangerous
Grains”,
Dr. James Braly
makes a direct
correlation
on grain consumption
and diseases
which include
cancer, ADD/ADHD,
digestive disturbances,
arthritis, and
chronic fatigue.
Dr.
Braly states
that by simply
eliminating
grains from
his patients’ diets,
they have enjoyed
renewed health
and regained
a sense of well-being.
If you goal
is to achieve
great health,
you do not need
grains to do
so. There is
nothing found
in grains that
you cannot find
in fruits and
vegetables.
You will not
be depriving
yourself of
any nutrients
with them out
of your diet.
If
you do decide
to eat grains,
learn to prepare them properly.
In her book, “Nourishing
Traditions”,
Sally Fallon
takes you step
by step on what
you need to
do to prepare
grains for healthy
consumption.
